The 37th Korea-Japan Nuclear Industry Seminar, co-hosted by the Korea Atomic Industrial Forum (KAIF) and the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF), was held in Seoul on February 4th.

With about 70 experts from both Korea and Japan in attendance, the seminar covered topics such as:
① Ensuring the Sustainability of Nuclear Power
② Maximizing the Utilization of Existing Assets
③ Deployment of New Nuclear Technologies & Applications
④ Promoting Women's Participation in the Nuclear Sector

After panel discussions among experts, participating companies from both countries engaged in B2B meetings to explore further collaboration.

Over the past two days, the Japanese delegation concluded their visit with tours of Korea's major nuclear facilities, including the KHNP CRI (Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Central Research Institute), the KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute), and Saeul NPP Unit 2.

The year 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan.

In particular, the 37th KAIF-JAIF Seminar on the Nuclear Industry held special significance as an official commemorative project for this milestone, recognized by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries.

Since its inception in 1979, the KAIF-JAIF Seminar on the Nuclear Industry has played a pivotal role in strengthening the foundation of nuclear cooperation between the two nations for over 40 years.

I hope KAIF and JAIF will continue to foster close collaboration between the two countries' nuclear industry.
